On October 14th, the Materials Science and Engineering Department, KFUPM had the honor of hosting a seminar titled “Fundamentals and Applications of Nanomaterials in Interface Engineering: From Controlled Release to Industrial Innovations,” presented by Dr. Ahmed Alsmaeil, Senior Petroleum Engineer at Expec Advanced Research Centre, Saudi Aramco. Dr. Alsmaeil's insights highlighted the pivotal role of nanomaterials in tackling complex challenges across various sectors, focusing on the synthesis and functionalization of silica nanoparticles to enhance oil recovery, improve drug delivery, and stabilize emulsions, thus showcasing their interdisciplinary applications in energy, healthcare, food science, and environmental remediation. The seminar attracted graduate students and faculty members from the MSE department, providing a vibrant platform for attendees to engage, interact, and exchange perspectives while gaining invaluable knowledge.
