Why Did you choose KFUPM?

King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals continuously work on generating great outcomes for the region's industrial partners. Through the years these efforts earned KFUPM an undisputed reputation in the region. It is well engaged, and the engineering faculty realize their significant role within the industrial chain. The research projects are driven by this engagement and the outcomes have a really appreciated impact on our society. The university also has a well-respected distinguished alumni community which I would love to be part of. These are a few examples of why I have chosen to pursue my Master’s degree at KFUPM.

What Inspired you to choose your field of study?

I did my undergraduate studies in Material science and engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. I have always enjoyed understanding all aspects of material science and deploying the knowledge toward developing new materials. I have worked on several projects on Steel technologies, Polymeric materials, and composite materials. I want to continue learning and sharpen my research skills at KFUPM in the area of Material Science and Engineering to become a better scientist in the future.

How is the journey in this field so far?

I started the journey as a sponsored student from (SABIC) in my undergraduate studies. Upon completion of my degree in MSE, I worked in the research department in the area of product development. I am extremely grateful to see that my technical contribution along with my colleagues within the organization (SABIC) translated to products produced in our beloved country for the first time. I was part of the technical team supporting the first production of Polyacetal and Polymethylmethacrylate in Saudi Arabia. I have also worked on Carbon fiber product development, and I am looking forward to the first commercial production of Carbon Fibers in the country as well. I’m currently on a scholarship from (SABIC) to pursue my Master's at KFUPM in the field of Material science and engineering.

What advice you would give to engineering students?

My first advice, stay motivated and eager to contribute to the organization and the community you are part of. Our individual little efforts will definitely make a difference and lead to a greater outcome for all of us. Secondly, keep an open mindset and learn as much as you can from the other fields. This will help you in the future to communicate effectively, predict possible issues and deliver efficient solutions.

What hobbies do you have in your spare time?

I dedicate an hour daily for doing any kind of sport. I believe that it would maintain a healthy mindset and lifestyle. I also read about personal finance, Macroeconomics, and history whenever I have a chance to. Site seeing, traveling and camping is a must when ever possible through the year.
