Dr. Fahad Alam is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) since August 2023. Before he worked as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia. He also worked as postdoc at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi UAE, from April 2018 to March 2022. He has completed his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, in 2017, and M. Tech in Nanotechnology at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India in 2012.
Research Interest:
Currently he is working on 3D/4D printing/bio-printing of polymer composites for biomedical and sensing applications and currently focused on 4D printing of liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) using extrusion and vat-photopolymerization 3D printing technologies. Earlier in Khalifa University, Dr. Fahad worked on 3D printing of polymer composite via FDM and DLP 3D printing techniques for biomedical structural and energy storage applications. Dr. Fahad have pioneered the 3D printing of contact lens and glasses for color vision deficiency and vision correction applications. In addition, Fahad Alam have applied 2 US patent on glasses and contact lenses for color vision correction applications. Fahad Alam have good experience on development of 3D printed wearable devices for healthcare applications.
