The Material Science and Engineering (MSE) Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) held a productive meeting with the Aramco team from the Operational Excellence Department and Consulting Services Department. The purpose of the meeting was to continue the discussion from the last Saudi Aramco-KFUPM Collaboration Oversight Board Meeting and explore opportunities for collaboration in the field of materials science and engineering.
During the meeting, the MSE chairman provided an overview of the department and its programs, highlighting how the department is preparing future engineers to serve the current and future needs of the industry related to materials. The Aramco team presented their technical services technology program currently deployed in Aramco capital projects.
One significant outcome of the meeting was the participation of Aramco subject matter experts in non-metallic materials to teach at KFUPM, which would be a valuable addition to the department's curriculum. Additionally, the discussion explored the possibility of summer training for students in Aramco, providing them with hands-on experience in a real-world environment. The meeting also included the possibility of funding for industrial-oriented labs for the department, further enhancing the student's learning experience and practical skills.
