MSE Department Hosted Director of Oil Sustainability Program (OSP) to Strengthen Collaboration and Future Materials Transition
It was an honor for The Material Science and Engineering (MSE) department to host the director of the Oil Sustainability Program (OSP) Eng. Mohammad Al Tayyar.

During the visit, the Chairman of the MSE dept Dr. Turki Baroud gave an overview of the MSE department including introducing the faculty members, and the education and research activities. Dr. Turki also highlighted the role of academia in the development of talent including Materials-ready talents that can serve materials-related industries in the Kingdom. 
 
The OSP director Eng. Mohammad Al Tayyar applauded the department’s efforts, especially how the programs are comprehensive and well align with the current and future needs of the materials-related industry in the kingdom. Also, he shared how materials transition is one of the main pillars of the OSP program.

Also, he gave a brief about the OSP program which was launched in 2020 with the participation of multiple government agencies, research institutions, and companies. Also, he highlighted that the ambition is to create opportunities and applications for Hydrocarbons globally as a competitive source of energy, both from an economic and an environmental point of view while ensuring Hydrocarbons remain part of the global energy mix in the most efficient and sustainable way. Also, he mentioned that the program enables and supports the transition by removing barriers to energy access in developing markets, accelerating technological advancements, and increasing sustainability.

Both the MSE dept and OSP discussed several opportunities and venues for collaboration.

This event highlights the MSE department's dedication to its program and its alignment with the Kingdom's vision for the future. It also emphasizes the department's ability to connect and collaborate with other stakeholders in the Kingdom related to MSE.
